Description
Hotels Montmartre – Sacré Coeur - Clichy Pigalle (18th district, zip code : 75018)
The Montmartre name comes from an old mountain (mount of the martyrs) where the prisoners were brought to, killed and given to the vultures, after their execution. It has now become the painters area with the Place du Tertre where numerous painters and drawers offer their services, the place of the Poulbots (name of the kids who used to hang out there at the 19th century) and of the traditional Parisian bars.
The "rue des Abbesses" became famous in the whole world thanks to the movie Amélie Poulain (Amélie from Montmartre) with its market, its shops of creators and his “true” environment. On this famous Butte, is standing the Basilica of the "Sacré-Coeur" which is the peak of Paris. While going down towards the boulevards, you will have to stop at the cabaret "Chez Michou", and The Bal du Moulin Rouge and for those who are interested in good bargains, there is the marché Saint Pierre or the multiple Tati stores.
