Description

Hotels Etoile - Champs Elysees - Concorde (8th district, zip code 75008) (close to the Saint-Lazare train station)

The Place de l’Etoile is at the crossing point of the 16th and 17th districts. L’Arc de Triomphe (Arch of Triumph) is located right in the middle of the place and every day at 6:00 pm, there is a public lighting of the flame dedicated to the memory of the unknown soldier who is buried there. This place designed as a star (l’Etoile) during the 19th century leads to twelwe large and majestic avenues.

The Champs-Elysees, one of them being judged by many as the most beautiful avenue in the world. A long time abandoned at the expense of the banks headquarters, except for the top of the avenue where is gathered the famous Publicis Drugstore and the Office of Tourism of Paris, the north side of the avenue has since the arrival of the new Louis Vuitton’s stores taken new colors with the opening of many luxury shops, the re-opening of the very famous Fouquet’s and the creation of a 4 stars hotel at the corner of the Avenue George V, and the famous Pink Paradise Platinium. In the south, the most popular names of luxury are also represented : Cartier, Guerlain etc. It is also where the show rooms of large automobile manufacturers are: Mercedes Benz, Peugeot, Toyota. Close to the Rond Point des Champs Elysées, movie theaters offer both in French and English the last motion pictures released in Europe.

Going down further after the Rond-Point, you will meet the quays of the Seine on your right by passing between two splendid buildings entirely renovated : The Grand Palais and the Petit Palais which feature multiple exhibitions. If you make a small turn, you will not miss the Petit Palais and the Discovery Palace where there are many experiments on the discoveries of our time to do (electricity, telephone…).

Had you chosen to go on the left through the garden of the Rond-Point, you would have been directed to the Elysee palace, residence of the President of the Republic whose principal gate is rue Saint Honore. This street is on a few hundred meters the temple of luxury and good taste with shoemakers such as Fratelli Rosetti or Tod\'s, dressmakers like Versace and Lanvin, saddleries like Jitrois or Hermès or the general manufacturers of luxury goods like Gucci at the corner of the rue Royale. Making a left on the rue Royale, there is the place de la Madeleine, in the center of which, a church is drawn up and it’s frontage reminds the Greek Parthenon. It is where funerals of personalities take place and there are concerts of classical music or chorals all along the year.
